Entering The Quiet
It’s Mindful Monday! One of my favorite days; one of my favorite subjects - meditation.

Just as yoga isn’t about being able to touch your toes - it’s about what you learn on the way down. Meditation isn’t about stopping thinking. It’s about learning how to observe your thoughts, and letting go of them without creating an emotional attachment.
You won’t stop your mind from thinking. And that’s not the goal of meditation. By thinking, your mind is simply doing what it has been trained to do. To think, to plan, to worry about all the things that make up your day. But what you can do is stop your reaction to that thinking. And thereby train the mind to let go of the thoughts. That is the goal of meditation.
We live in a world where we are constantly barraged with information. Information that the mind believes it must process and react to in some manner. Finding calm in that chaos, finding a way to stop the need to process and react to the information, is a benefit of meditation.
No special equipment. No robes. No cushions. Just you and a comfortable place to sit. Early morning, or just before bed. For 5 minutes.
