It’s Thankful Thursday!

Wow! Sometimes it seems like the week goes by so quickly. Just me? No way!

What are you thankful for today?

Is there a more wonderful way to slow down, if even for just a few minutes, by considering this question? I don’t think so!

For me, today, I am so very thankful for one of my favorite books. The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff. It is definitely the Top Ten favorite books of my life.

Haven’t read it? You should. Remarkably simple.

Wonderfully profound. I have re-read it many times through the years and I glean new insight each time.

One of my favorite quotes from the book

- "Do you really want to be happy? You can begin by being appreciative of who you are and what you’ve got."

Simple, really, right? Be appreciative.

Appreciative of who you are.

Appreciative of what you’ve got.

Easy, peasy.

And yet somehow something seemingly so simple can be so complicated, if we allow it to be.

Especially in this social media world where we are constantly faced with the option of comparing our ‘behind the scenes’ to every one else’s highlights reel.

Appreciating who we are and what we have, can suddenly

So, let’s start today, and remind ourselves that our ‘behind the scenes’ is awesome and should be celebrated and appreciated for all its messy loveliness. And for all the ‘highlights reels’ we will see today, cheers to them also - with the hope that they too appreciate their ‘behind the scenes’ for what must be messy loveliness too!

The challenge becomes making thankfulness a routine. Making it a daily habit to remind ourselves to be appreciative of all that we are and all that we have.
